MX8 |PICMG 1.0| Pentium 4 Single Board Computer (SBC)

Description Trenton's MX8 is a PICMG 1.0 single board computer (SBC) that offers flexible processor options, including the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor with its 800MHz system bus and 1M L2 cache, and the Intel® Celeron® processor with a 400MHz system bus and 128K of L2 cache memory. The capabilities of the MX8 include dual Gigabit Ethernet, dual Serial ATA/150 and dual channel DDR266/333/400 memory support. The chipset's AGP 4x video connection to a 16MB ATI® video controller gives the MX8 the power for demanding video applications. The MX8 supports new PCI-X and PCI option cards, as well as legacy ISA option cards. Enabling PCI-X, PCI and ISA option card communications makes the MX8 the ideal SBC for implementing new systems and for upgrading older systems. Model number and model name definitions: 6240 MX8 = Pentium 4 processor, standard-memory configuration

-12V @ <100mA * From backplane via PICMG® connector. ** From ATX12V power supply or equivalent via P24 connector.
The processor¡¯s power requirements created the need for an additional on-board 4-pin power connector. This connector requires +12V from an external power supply that conforms to the ATX12V power specification.
This external power supply should have a wattage rating of at least 250W. The MX8 also requires that the power supply provide +3.3V to the backplane's processor slot.
The system power supply must conform to the power sequencing specifications of ATX compliant power supplies. Voltage levels must be regulated within a range of +/- 5%.

MEMORY SLOT POPULATION
Memory modules can be installed in one or both MX8 DIMM sockets. If two modules of different speeds are used, the DIMMs will operate in dual-channel mode at the speed of the slowest DIMM. If the modules are different sizes, they will operate in single-channel mode. The System BIOS automatically detects memory type, size and speed. Registered DIMMs are not supported. All memory modules must have gold contacts.
